Install LibX RIT Edition
LibX Features:

Toolbar & right-click context menu: Direct access to the RIT Library Catalog via a toolbar and context (right-click) menu - automatic construction of simple or advanced searches. Search by entering terms, select and right-click, or select and drag-and-drop without having to navigate to the RIT Library Catalog page.

Adaptive context menus: The context menu changes automatically depending on what is selected. For instance, if an ISBN is selected, the context menu will offer the option to search directly using that specific identifier. Currently recognized are CrossRef DOIs, ISBNs, ISSNs, and PubMed IDs.

Support for linking: RIT Libraries' "More!" keeps track of the electronic journals RIT subscribes to and points you to the appropriate database - most of the time linking you directly to the fulltext article. "More!" is based on the OpenURL standard, and works well in connection with Google Scholar.

Support for Google Scholar: Select text and search for the selected text on Google Scholar. In addition, LibX will direct you to an electronic copy owned by the RIT library via !"More!" should you not have access to the copy to which Google Scholar links. You can use this feature even from inside a PDF, which makes retrieving papers referenced in a PDF file a snap. If you are accessing Google Scholar from on campus, this feature will be available automatically. If you are coming from off campus, you will need to select Rochester Institute of Technology as your library in the "Library Links" section of Google Scholar preferences. Off campus users may need to enter their RIT usernname/password to retrieve the fulltext. More information about Google Scholar preferences can be found in the LibX FAQ.

Support for off-campus access via EZProxy: Support for off-campus proxy via RIT Libraries' EZProxy server. You may reload a page through the proxy in the context (right click) menu, making it appear as though you are coming from an on-campus computer. This feature gives you off-campus access to resources subscribed to by RIT Libraries.

Support for embedded cues: LibX places cues in web pages you visit if the library has resources related to that page. Whenever you see the cue, click on the tiger paw link to look at what the library has to offer. For instance, book pages at Amazon or Barnes & Noble contain cues that can check whether RIT Libraries has the book you are looking to buy. Other pages that contain cues are Google, Google Scholar, Yahoo! Search, the NY Times Book Review, and more.

Support for COinS: LibX supports COinS, which can turn certain hidden SPAN tags inserted by authors or publishers into actionable OpenURL links. More information on COinS.

Support for xISBN: Support for OCLC's xISBN: search through LibX with an ISBN to find a book, even if the library holds this book under a different ISBN. xISBN cross-references different editions, printings and bindings of a given book.
