Bill Buford's Heat
In his new book Heat, Bill Buford documents his experiences working in a variety of restaurant kitchens including Mario Batali's restaurant Babbo in NYC and restaurants in England and Europe. Buford is a professional writer who wanted to experience "the trials and errors (and more errors), humiliations and hopes, disappointments and triumphs as he worked his way up the ladder from slave to cook." Read more about this book in the New York Times Sunday Book Review and listen to an interview with Buford on WNYC's Leonard Lopate Show.
