These wool jerseys were purchased for a small fee from the Rochester Amerks team by the RIT hockey club.  The lettering on the front was changed to RIT and they were worn with pride.

“First the jersey. It, along with about 15 more, were obtained for a small fee from the Rochester Americans who were purchasing new jerseys.  The word AMERICAN appeared in white on the blue band.  Thanks to my wife and several gals from the Kate Gleason Hall, all the letters were removed except the RI in the center.  A letter T of the same size was obtained and sewn on by the gals.  A few, had all the letters removed with three large RIT letters sewn on. There you had it; the first official RIT hockey jerseys.  -Allan Shepard
