Hockey skates worn by Tim Butler, 1960-1964

Hockey skates worn by Tim Butler, 1960-1964

This pair of well-worn skates were donated to the RIT Archives by Tim Butler in 2011.

The “Skating through the decades of RIT’s men’s hockey” exhibit opened in October 2011 for Brick City weekend.  A number of hockey team alumni came to town for a reunion and to see the exhibit.  Tim Butler from Kenmore, NY, who played from 1960-1964, was one of them.  While looking over the exhibit he told the Archive staff he had brought an old pair of well-worn skates with him.  He didn’t think we would want them.  We, on the other hand, were thrilled because we had no skates in the collection.  We immediately added them to the exhibit.
