ISO and IEC Standards

University Outreach Program

Note: For use by Faculty only

The University Outreach Program, a pilot program of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) makes available complimentary copies of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards to individual professors for use in their classrooms. Participants in the program will also have access to members of the U.S. standarization community who can provide case studies, model tutorials, and other educational resources. The program is open to all disciplines.

Following are the steps for participation in this pilot program:

1. Faculty search the ANSI web site to select specific ISO and IEC standards from a collection of nearly 20,000 standards.

2. Faculty complete and return the University Outreach Pilot Project enrollment form.

3. ANSI sends an e-mail to the faculty member with a unique URL and password for their students to access the standards online and ANSI provides faculty with the University Outreach Pilot Project License Agreement for distribution to all students given access to the free standards.

4. Faculty distribute URLs, passwords and the License Agreement to their students.

5. Faculty contacts ANSI with any additional requests for resources.

6. As they become available, ANSI will contact faculty with additional teaching resources.

7. At the end of the semester faculty participate in a brief evaluation of the program.
