Having trouble installing the ebrary reader on your Intel Mac? ebrary is working on a universal application for the plug-in on Intel based Macs, but until that is released you can do this:
- Navigate to the "Applications" folder.
- Single click on the "Safari" application to select it.
- Crtl-click (or right click) on "Safari"
- Choose "Duplicate" from the contextual menu.
- Single click on the "Safari copy" application to select it.
- Crtl-click (or right click) on "Safari copy" to select it
- Choose "Get Info" from the contextual menu
- Under "Name & Extension", highlight "Safari copy.app" and rename to "Safari-PowerPC.app"
- Check the "Launch as PowerPC application"
- Navigate to Applications, and launch the newly created "Safari-PowerPC"
- Install the ebraryReader
- Double-click Safari-PowerPC and all is back to
"normal".
- If you encounter an error indicating you have insufficient privileges to run the installer, you will need to repair your permissions. Instructions can be found here
You could also run a PowerPC version of FireFox.

Mac Permission Repair Instructions
- Navigate to the "Applications" folder
- Within the "Applications" folder, there should be a folder labeled "Utilities." Open the "Utilities" folder.
- In the "Utilities" folder, navigate to "Disk Utility" and double click to launch the application.
- Wait for the computer gather disk information; when complete, your hard disk should show up in the column on the left. Click on the hard disk - this should bring up a screen, with tabs at the top labeled "First Aid," "Erase," "RAID," and "Restore" You should already be on the default tab, "First Aid."
- On the bottom left of the "First Aid" window, click the "Repair Disk Permissions" button.
- Wait for the program to complete, then re-attempted to install the ebrary plugin.
