Michael Furman first picked up a camera to photograph a 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe. This began a life-long love affair with cars and cameras. Throughout his more than thirty five-year professional career, Michael has had the pleasure to work with the world's most significant cars.

Michael studied Photography at the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a Fine Arts degree in 1974. Upon graduation, he opened his studio in his native Philadelphia, and built a successful business shooting still life a sssignments for major advertising and corporate clients. But it was the challenge of shooting cars in the studio that led him to his current path. Mr. Furman's specialty is in studio lighting of classic cars. He has also worked with race cars, motorcycles and concept cars.

In the fall of 2003, Harry N. Abrams published Michael's first book "Motorcars of the Classic Era." It was received with public and critical acclaim, leading to the immediate work on his second book "Automobiles of the Chrome Age, 1946-1960.

Michael is a founding board member of the prestigious Radnor Hunt Concours d'Elegance and has served as its Creative Director for the past 13 years. He holds the same position at UBS Motor Cars Under the Stars, a benefit for United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia, which he helped found in 2004.
