Biographical Information for Patti Durr (Collapse)

Associate professor of social sciences and deaf studies in NTID's cultural and creative studies department, Patti Durr began teaching at NTID/RIT in 1990. Durr has been instrumental in developing Deaf Studies courses at NTID and is actively involved in the community. In 2004, by rigorous peer review of student nominations, she was awarded the RIT Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching.

Scope and Content (Collapse)

The Patti Durr collection on Deaf Theater contains various documents and new clippings as well as other publications pertaining to Deaf theater, mostly in Rochester and at NTID. However also included are documents and news clippings about Deaf theater in other cities in the United States as well as some in Europe. There is also correspondence between Patti Durr and members of the Deaf theater community. In addition, this collection includes programs, miscellaneous flyers, and playbills. Flyers include lists of performance groups of and for deaf people in the United States, Deaf playwrights and their works, and acting workshops with Patrick Graybill. Advertisement flyers and programs include plays such as "The Signal Season of Dummy Hoy, or, The Baseball Adventures of a Shoemaker from Ohio", "Road to a Revolution", "A Deaf Family Diary", "The Sea Princess", and "I Didn't Hear that Color".
