![]() Extra Helpings(All Day)This all-day offering is going to be set up in a special location on the Library’s second floor (VIA), and will truly be an a la carte experience. The new "Extra Helpings" area is open throughout the day and all attendees are welcome to visit once or multiple times. Food For Thought attendees can stop in during the day to check their email or update their blog, or they can consult with one of our “Extra Helpings’ “geniuses” to get answers to technology-related questions. The bullpen area will be staffed, at various times, by ITS Desktop Support, RIT Online Learning, RIT Libraries Technology Services and other Library staff. This collective brain power ought to be able to answer most of your questions about technology (hardware, software and application-related questions). If we can’t answer your question, we will do our best to get back to you with some solutions after the event. For more information about Extra Helpings, please contact Chris Lerch, Manager of Library Technology Services at crlwml@rit.edu or (585) 475-2050. ![]() Lightning Talks(1:30 – 2:30 PM)A new item we are offering is the "Lightning Talks", a one-hour, rapid-fire smorgasbord of micro-presentations, concocted and served up by you, our fellow RIT staffers! You now have an opportunity to actively take part in the presentations at Food For Thought, to “wear the chef’s hat”, if you will. You are welcome to play the role of presenter, or enjoy observing the succession of fresh and diverse topics as an attendee. We will have up to 10 different topics covered during this solitary hour, so get ready to graze! Library Technologist Jonathan Jiras will preside over this fast-paced sixty minute snackdown! If you have a micro-presentation you can encapsulate into five minutes, please submit a brief description before June 5th or before the slate of presentations is filled to: Jonathan Jiras at jjjwml@rit.edu or call (585) 475-7737. |
