Avant-Garde

Ralph Ginsberg, publisher of Avant Garde (1968-1971) described the magazine as " a post pyrotechnic, futuristic bimonthly of intellectual pleasure". It was published in New York by Avant Garde Media Publishing.

During its four year existence, Herb Lubalin was a director. He brought the works of many talented illustrators to the pages of Avant Garde, John Alcorn, Etienne Delessert, Ernst Fuchs, Milton Glaser, Richard Lindner, jerome Snyder, Tom Wesselman. Notable photographers at Avant Garde include Comel Capa, Ed van der Elsken, Eliot Bisofan, Benedict Fernandez, Leonard Freed, Peter Hajar, Mary Ellen Mark, David Seymour and Bert Stern.
