Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair (1914-1936, 1983-), published by Conde Nast in New York, is self-described as "a record of current achievements in all the arts and a mirror of the progress and promise of American life."

Dr. Mehemed Fehmy Agha, art director of Vanity Fair from 1928-1936, was responsible for bringing the works of some of the greatest artists of the 20th century to the pages of the magazine. Notable illustrators include Cecil Beaton, Edouard Benito, Jean Charlot, Migual Covarrubius who designs frequent covers and editorial illustrations, George Grosz, William Steig and Marcel Vortes. Photographers include Cecil Beaton, Anton Bruehl, Imogen Cunningham, Horst, George Hoyningen-Huene, Edward Steichen who did many portraits of celebrities and Edward Weston.
