Loan Program

The Graphic Design Archives contain significant artifacts which have been borrowed for exhibitions at national and international museums including the National Museum of American Art, Washington, DC; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; London Design Museum; Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris; and the Museum Folkwang, Essen as well as the Museum of Design, Zurich. Highlights of the these loans include three Lester Beall posters along with one sketch that were included in the Posters American Style, organized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American Art which occurred from March 27 to August 9, 1998.

In 2007, several posters, advertisements and broadsides from the Paul Rand collection were loaned to the International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of Chaumont, France from May 12- June 24. A brief synopsis of the Paul Rand section can be found here:

Recently, over 40 objects from the George Giusti and Fred Troller archives were loaned to the Museum of Design Zurich for the exhibition, Good Design, Good Business: Swiss Graphic Design and Advertising by Geigy, 1940-1970, held from February 2 – May 24, 2009.
