FIESTA

It was nice sharing hot sun,
billowy clouds,
and bananaberry slushies with you
while walking through a populated
maze of artistic interpretations.
We offered up our own interconnected
explanations to each other,
dabbling in past and present like
multicolored swatches swirling around
our yet to come.
It was nice in the long run
deciding that I was right again,
I don't have to categorize myself for you,
though I guess I wound up trying to anyway
cause somehow
the need to have you understand is real.
So in words and pictures
long walks and shoreline talks
I offered up to you my own montage.
Who I am
is me and naturally I have many colors
some loud, some muted, some shades of gray.
Who I am
is I, mixed media, assemblage, words on a page.
My experiences united to form significance.
I am me
still in the making,
already formed,
firm yet pliable
I think you understand now,
I hope you do
cause what I think I heard you say
is
your hues
are many too.
