    How I Can Assist You?

    As the Art and Photography Librarian at RIT Library, I provide the following services:

  • Library Instruction: My instructional sessions may introduce RIT Library's collections and access systems for the visual arts, provide an orientation to major resources for a particular discipline, or explore research strategies for specialized topics. I cover both print and electronic resources, and when appropriate, include materials in the RIT Library Special Collections. I can also assist with the development of library assignments.

  • Research Assistance: I'm available for impromptu or scheduled tutorials or research assistance to RIT students and faculty and other library patrons at any unscheduled time during the week.

  • Guides: I am in the process of developing a series of bibliographies and research guides to help library users find information on popular research topics in fine and applied arts and photography. Here are a number of extremely useful guides in: fine and applied arts and photography.

  • Click here to request new guides tailored to specific class assignments, topical bibliographies, or instructions for the use of specific research tools.

  • Selection: I select all books, exhibition catalogs, periodicals, annuals, and other print and electronic resources for the visual arts collections. Lists of new acquisitions in photography and film, fine and applied arts, are posted every month.

  • Galleries: I supervise the library's two galleries and its exhibitions program. The galleries are available to all RIT students and faculty for the display their work on a first-come-first-served basis.

  • Special Collections: I coordinate the library's Special Collections and assist library users with research related to these unique materials documenting the history of graphic design, photography, and other visual arts.

  • Purchase Prize Program: I coordinate the RIT Library Purchase Prizes Programs, purchase awards given each year to students in RIT's School of Photographic Arts and Sciences and School of Art and Design and School for American Crafts. I also maintain the SPAS Purchase Prize Collection, which is available to library visitors in the RIT Archives, and the RIT Library Art Collection, which includes the SAD/SAC purchase prizes. which is on display throughout the RIT Library building

    My Schedule

    My normal work hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. During the school year I will also be available one evening every week.

    My Favorite Internet Sites

    I've selected some excellent Internet "hub sites" for RIT Library's Wallace Web to assist students and faculty in their research in the visual arts, to provide museum and exhibition information, and to link them to others involved in art education . These gathering points provide easy access to a vast array of educational and commercial resources available through the Worldwide Web as well as through Gopher, FTP, and discussion groups.
