Start with Fiction in the RIT Collection
To find American fiction:
- Check the PS call number range. American Literature is classed under PS in the Library of Congress Classification System.
- Fiction is organized alphabetically by the individual author’s last name within the date range the author began to publish. All of an individual’s works are shelved together. For example, Stephen King began publishing in the 1961-2000 time period, so all of his titles are in the PS 3550-3576 call number range, specifically PS 3561. This includes his newer titles published after 2000.
- Current fiction for 2001+ is in the PS 3600-3626 range. However, this range is for authors who began publishing after 2001.
