ELECTRONIC REFERENCE SERVICE (ASK) Are you in your room or office and: Need a company's address?
Want to know the phone numbers of a particular publisher?
Can't remember who your elected representatives are?
Can't quite think of who played Uncle Henry in the 'Wizard of
Oz'?
Just '$ ASK'
RIT Library offers an Electronic Reference Service in three formats to RIT
faculty, staff and students. The service enables electronic mail users to ask
questions of the Reference Librarians at Wallace without leaving their offices
or homes!
Not intended to handle lengthy questions, but any request for brief factual
information which might otherwise require a quick phone call or visit to the
library is welcome.
HOW?
Send questions three (3) ways:
via the RIT Library Reference Department's electronic mail address: 610wmlref@rit.edu,
using whatever electronic mail facility is available to you.
enter ASK at the '$' prompt or select #3 from the RITMENU. Then select Wallace
Memorial Library from the list of options.
use the electronic form from our Talk To Us
page (button for Talk to Us is located under the picture of the Library on our
webpage)
Reference Librarians will provide a response to your questions via electronic
mail. If it is not possible to answer your question with a brief mail message,
you will be referred to an appropriate resource or person. A response to questions
will normally be sent back to you within 24 hours (excluding holidays and
weekends).
If you have any questions about Electronic Reference Services, call the
Reference Desk at: 475-2563 (TDD) or 475-2564 or contact Linda
Coppola at 475-2626 or llcwml@rit.edu
TO FACULTY
If you do not want students to use this service for brief library exercises
which are part of a class assignment, please notify Linda Coppola by phone
at x 5-2626 or electronic mail at llcwml@rit.edu
prior to giving the assignment.
Remember that you may also use One
2 One (RIT Library's Virtual Reference Desk) for live help during
