The Wallace Center Commemorates 9/11

The Wallace Center will commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11 with the following exhibits:

 

1000 Paper Cranes for Peace

Sunken Gallery, 2nd floor
Entire month of September; Community Fold, 12-2pm on 9/11/2016
Join the effort to fold 1,000 origami cranes in pursuit of a wish for global peace. Materials provided. Open drop-in hours.

 

Out of the Sky: Remembering 9/11

Artist’s book installation by Werner Pfeiffer, 2006.

This artist book was recently purchased by the Cary Graphic Arts Collection.
Here is a video about this particular piece by the artist Werner Pfeiffer. It is a reconstruction of the Twin Towers in paper.

A 9/11 Project: Reflections and Memories

Eric T. Kunsman and Michael Riordan, Curators
Sunken gallery, 2nd floor, on view until September. Reflections, Sept. 12, 4 to 6pm, remarks at 5pm by Eric Kunsman & Michael Riordan.
A multi-part exhibition showcasing a selection from 121 newspapers collected in the week following 9/11 along with reflections of the week from RIT students and the Rochester community.
