Welcome to the Wallace Center! This summer was one of excitement, noise and dust as the Wallace Center spent several weeks under construction. The first floor of the Wallace Center has been transformed to better support the academic success and scholarship of our students and faculty. Complementing services already offered by the Wallace Center’s RIT Libraries, Faculty Development and RIT Production, the new design features the addition of the Writing Commons and the RIT American Sign Language & Deaf Studies Community Center that were previously located in the SAU.
The first floor has been revitalized with new carpeting and paint and other renovations that include better space utilization, improvements in lighting, and new flexible furniture and study areas that will increase seating on the first floor by 40%. Our technology area continues to feature dual monitor computer stations but this has now been enhanced with a new laptop "bar" and a new media scape collaboration center. Aside from continued work in the lobby, renovations on the first floor are nearly complete. We are still awaiting additional lounge seating and signage and selecting artwork for the first floor. Please bear with us as we make these finishing touches over the next few weeks.
