Opening and dedication of the Kelmscott/Goudy Press
October 9, 2014 marks the 45th anniversary of the Cary Graphic Arts Collection at Rochester Institute of Technology. For the new anniversary exhibition, 45: Selections from the RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection, our curators have chosen highlights that not only exemplify the scope and mission of the library, but also are treasures in their own right.
At the opening reception on October 9, the library’s most recent major acquisition will be featured prominently: the 1891 Albion press used by Arts & Crafts luminary William Morris, and 20th century type designer, Frederic Goudy. Please join us for a talk at 5 p.m. about the purchase and restoration of this printing press. All attendees will be invited to print a broadside on the press. Refreshments to follow.
